Circle Coin Purse

This is a fast project that works great as a gift, with candy or a gift card inside, or on its own! It doesn't take much fabric to make either, and is perfect for beginners!

Materials:

  • Fabric (enough for two 10x10 squares)

  • Scissors

  • Pins

  • Needle

  • Thread

  • Button

  • Washable fabric marker (optional)

Instructions:

Start by cutting your fabric into two 10x10 inch squares. Place fabric squares together with the wrong sides facing out, and pin in place.

Trace a circle inside the square, with only about 1/4 inch (at least) between the edge of the fabric and the circle (see picture below). Sew, following the marked circle. Leave a gap between the start and finishing stitches. After you finish sewing, cut around the edges to make the circle neater. Using the unstitched gap you left, pull the project through until it's been turned out completely. Sew gap closed.

Iron out edges. Fold sides in (see picture). Fold bottom (see picture). Hold iron on top of folded fabric, pressing for at least 30 seconds.

Unfold. Turn circle over and fold down, following the creases just made (see picture). Pin in place. Sew creases to end of fold.

Flip circle out, pressing sewn corners straight. Sew a buttonhole on the outside flap. Sew a button on the inside.
