Chili Soup

For some reason I was cold all day today and soup sounded so good! My husband has been asking for chili soup for a while, so I decided to go ahead and make it for lunch. This is a simple soup recipe, but very delicious and comforting as colder weather approaches.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. ground beef

  • 1 lb. ground turkey

  • 1 (28 oz.) can diced tomatoes

  • 1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes

  • 1 qt. tomato juice

  • 2 (15.5 oz.) cans dark red kidney beans, drained

  • 1 (15.25 oz.) can black beans, drained

  • 2 jalapeno peppers, chopped

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 1 Tb. chili powder

  • 1/2 tsp. garlic salt

  • 1/2 tsp. pepper

Cook meat, onion, and jalapeno pepper on stovetop until meat is mostly cooked through. Drain fat.

Slowly transfer all ingredients to a large crock pot.

***If you do not have a crockpot, put all of the ingredients in a large pot over the stove and let simmer for about an hour.

Once everything is in the crock pot, set on high for 3-4 hours. Stir, then serve. I like to make rolls or have bread to go with soup. I hope you enjoy this recipe!
